Is what you're looking for a game engine? I'd suggest learning C++ then trying to make a game using Ogre3d or Irrichlt. DarkBasic sucks ass I'd stay away from it.

DarkBASIC is a game development language. Big difference. Right now, I myself am working on a game engine in DarkBASIC. You heard me right. I am making the GAME GAME GAME. Once I have finished, which might take up to a year from now, you can all use it to make your own GAME GAME GAME GAMEs, which I in turn can mod for my own GAME GAME GAME GAME GAMES!

In other words, it would be cool for everyone to use a high level game engine to make some games for yourewinner.com to give people ideas for their own games, because I was banned from TGC for a month for posing as Sergey Titov.
