My former Xbox 360 controller finally has a new home  :belair:

The third-party heatsink was also the hardest thing for me to install.  As you describe, it is a tight fit, and my biggest fear was that I would break or unnecessarily jam something in the process.  I actually overdid the thermal grease, and in the process of removing the excess I got some on the edge of the chip...but so far nothing has blown up.

Also, I may have received a lemon, but my HDD died about two weeks ago.  Thankfully, my OS and other important programs were on my SSD, so no big loss.    :bluerig:

The mounting bracket for this guy was really well designed so thankfully I didn't need to worry about anything breaking. Honestly I was more worried about my push pin heat sink when I bought my conroe.

What did you buy???

GOOD QUESTION
Apparently I didnt take a picture of all my dumb boxes but WHATEVER
cpu: i5 4670K
mbu: asus Z87-A (difference between Z97 and Z87 is as far as I can tell inclusion of an M.2 port, and I have no idea what an M.2 port is)
rams: 16gb (2x8gb) ddr1600
see:

I decided to buy and install windows 8.1, and since I'd be installing off a dvd and this new mobo didnt have an IDE port I had to buy a new sata dvd drive.

OLD SETUP:

I WILL MISS YOU COOL LANPARTY MOBO

Since my waterblock is for LGA775 I needed to buy a new backplate for the new socket. Luckily the two mounting hole sizes were close enough to work, I just had to flip the mounting bracket on the block around to get it to fit the new backplate.

Everything works great, new UEFI thing is cool, windows 8 is dope.

boots in 5.99s

Z97 gives you support for Broadwell and beyond but it doesn't really matter if you're planning on sticking with Haswell for a while.

I forgot how desolate water cooling looks.  I'm guessing your case is massive because there looks to be a ton of space.  Now you need to get a new GPU!
