performance is pretty poor!!! the other emulators perform better!! :(

PS1 was playable but suffered from framerate loss at some points where FPse worked fine
SNES had horrible choppy audio!!! SNesoid runs fullspeed even on mode 7!

Check that the refresh rate was detected correctly.

Many Android devices report the wrong refresh rate, which can cause some of the issues you're having.

Another option you might want to try is the Threaded video driver in the video settings

On my devices I've gotten the same or better performance with RetroArch as I did with the other emulators.
YMMV I guess tho.

Make sure you're comparing RetroArch to other emulators without frameskipping turned on.
RA does not use/believe in frameskipping because it can cause glitches and greater input latency  (though it was recently added as an option for the PCSX core)

Most cores should  be able to run full-speed without frameskipping on a Cortex A9 or higher.

I'm running on a TI OMAP 1GHz

Reported device rate was 68hz, calibrated was 62.something hz, neither of those make the audio issues go away!!
Also the developer seems to be a big jerk

Yeah just went to the snesoid settings, it had auto frameskip with max 2, set it to max 0, even then it still ran better than retroarch's snes9x. With auto 2 it doesn't give me noticeable input lag and plays the games much smoother!

pocketsnes was based on an ancient speedhacked version of SNES9x.
It is less compatible than recent versions of SNES9x (examples shown below), but also much less demanding and runs better on slower hardware (I use it on my Raspi!!)

Swiftkey will assuage most of your virtual keyboard woes, and when it doesn't it'll probably be funny anyways
