Someone told me the Yakuza series has always been better than GTA but I've never played it, is there any truth to this?

 

Yes the combat is good and crunchy and the minigames aren't garbage ass.

I like my combat like I like my chocolate bar; good and crunchy.

Whereas III, VC and SA were all pretty unrealistic IV tried to be a lot "grittier" and realistic.  No planes, tanks etc and things like driving were made much different (and really slammed by a lot of people).  I personally loved the atmosphere of it and really got immersed.  I also did with SA but it's about as far from gritty and realistic as you can get (not that there is anything wrong with that!). 

IV to me felt way too linear to be honest , all of the side stuff was menial and felt like a chore rather than fun and entertaining. The story was pretty good I guess and I still enjoyed it and rate it highly but yeah there is something missing.
