Yeah after I made that post I realized I could have just said that San Andreas is more of a sandbox game.

Also the Yakuza games are really good but not very similar to GTA at all.

I liked Ballad of Gay Tony

It was much more exciting!!!

It's funny, when TLAD and Gay Tony came out TLAD was slammed on consoles while Gay Tony was praised.  Playing the PC version it was totally opposite where Gay Tony was hardly playable for TLAD was an incredible achievement.  Still need to pick up Episodes for my PS3 sometime.

I think they did the best they could do when designing a GTA game for the DS, but that's another game that got a lot of unwarranted praise.

I wasn't excited for this at all but the gameplay trailer looked great. I'm still more hyped for Saints Row IV though, but that's also because it's going to be very moddable

China town wars was perfectly adequate and enjoyable but obviously not deserving of the GTA name

Liberty City Stories was a lot better, especially with the homebrew hacking software on the PSP.  God I loved that game.
