BTW, this is the soundtrack for the arcade version (1989), not the Genesis version. Toplan and Pony Canyon (lulz) probably decided only to release this CD because the arcade version was fairly popular in Japan and would sell well as a "limited edition", not to mention almost noone except dedicated WINNERs played the Genesis Zero Wing in the early 1990s, at least until 1998, when the "All your base" intro was re-discovered and elevated ZW's status from Non-WINNER to WINNER.

On a semi-related subject, is CATS or ? He participated in the Rigmageddon in the Book of Rigism, on the WINNER side, but he was the villian in Zero Wing and, according to the WINNERwiki, is a future incarnation of HWSNBN. Personally, I think CATS was LOSER during the events of ZW, but he has since redeemed himself and formed a strong alliance with ZIG and the BROTTRers.

I was considering buying this when I read what it was, but then I saw the current price.  It's a shame too, this would be a great thing to have in my collection.

Good news: if you have a PC-Engine console and a PC-Engine copy of ZW, you can play it in any CD player as Redbook audio. Sadly, I dobut anyone has shelled out the cash to get a console no one's ever heard of. Maybe someday, Toplan will return and make a Zero Wing Ultimate Soundtrack featuring all of the music from the Genesis, Arcade, and PC-Engine versions as well as the heavy metal remix by Megadriver.
