Your internet beginnings

As I was reminiscing about when I first started using the internet, I realized this would be a GREAT idea for a topic.

I didn't really start using the internet a lot until I was 12.  In the year that followed, I managed to become a decent map maker for Red Alert 2, the leader of the #1 clan in C&C Renegade and an extremely mediocre player on every map except for one in America's Army (I remember having custom bindings for my keys so I could just press something and warn everyone I was about to throw a grenade, man was THAT cool!!).  Due to the fact that these both used Gamespy, I used to spend plenty of time in the chat rooms using any big words I could find to make myself seem like a grade A COOLDUDE.  I then proceeded to do the same in AOL chat rooms by soliciting old perverts (H)

After Renegade stopped being popular and my clan fell apart I started playing AA obsessively.  I found the BROTRR board on GameFAQs shortly after it was released, and combined with the fact that AA went to poo poo after 2003, my time switched over to GameFAQs and emulators.  Of course, all chat rooms remained trolled whenever possible.  After the next year was over I made the original BRR forums and the rest is history.

Now, how did YOU get acquainted with the internet???

i got acquainted to the internet when it took roughly an hour in 1999 to buffer this video (in realplayer of course) of an alien singing 'i will survive' before being crushed by a disco ball that my mom wanted to show me. i was not an active participant of the information superhighway until 2002 or 2003 and the rest is pretty boring.

I did some things and then I found this site (Which is pretty much the only event that matters).

From 96 to 97 I just posted random poo poo on usenet and various bbs's. That quickly got boring because I didn't understand how they worked so I stopped using the internet until I found that you could look up cheat codes online on CHEATCC.com in 1999. After a while I became fairly proficient at 'hacking' people on aim chat rooms (sending them to download a program that sent me their aol passwords) and annoying the hell out of people with some AOHell spin-off.
After that got boring in 2001 I rarely used the internet until about 2004 when I found bgoat.
The dudes on bgoat.com introduced me to a whole new world of web 2.0 use with the old audioscrobbler site. I posted on there and old last.fm a fetchin ton :belair:

Other boring things happened and then I found yw.com through a maze of links starting at youtube.

I started using the internet back on my dads windows 600mhz computer. We had prodigy dial up and I wanted to play all the cool sports illustrated flash games on the website. I also used cheatcc and gameshark for my sega genesis cheats. A bunch of red alert 1, 2, backyard baseball, and flight simulator 1998 soon followed this and then a long time after that nothing important happened. After that I found gamefaqs and trolled it forever. Then I found the BROTRR board through HWSNBN's video review of BROTRR. I entered the topic "500 winner salute" and couldn't stop laughing at all of the threads. I read (i believe it was ej's) someones signature that had the old rigism website on it and immediately joined. I left for a while, came back, left, and stayed.

I don't remember where exactly I started although I do remember it was on my dad's AOL connection with his Packard Bell (which he still uses).  Anyways then I got involved on the adult swim boards as a burgeoning anime fan and the community surrounding a Metroid fan comic.  Much later found YW on Wikipedia and only joined because the channel was on the same network as the Metroid thing.

I learked this board for a few years, 'cause a 12 year old like I was don't belong on this board, or rigism.com for that matter. I joined at 15.

Anyways, I was looking at a few games that  :loser:s claimed were bad, and I wondered what was out there, so I saw a Big Rigs video, and fell in love with it, and the power of  :stamp:.

REAL ANSWER:

At some age I began trolling every forum I came in contact with, subsequently getting banned from each, including GameFAQs where I have the honor of being banned at least 5 times. One day while trolling the Nintendo DS system board I read somebody's post suggesting a BIG RIGS DS game get made. I looked up BROTRR and was quickly enlightened to its greatness. I then joined the original BR&R board and history was made. I am still being banned from forums to this date.

ALSO
I read (i believe it was ej's) someones signature that had the old rigism website on it and immediately joined.
THANKS A LOT, EJ  :unhappy:

Oh yeah, how could I forget all of the great time I spent trolling and getting banned from a bunch of random IF forums.  Not to mention "hacking" three or four of supera's forums.

My current record for gamefaqs bannings stands at 13 accounts. If you want to include -1 accounts then it's somewhere around 18.
