Anyway:

I quit the first Witcher game - started on "hard" difficulty, and just killed everything far too easily.  Combat wasn't challenging, it was a chore; pressing the same buttons in sequence to pull off a combo over and over was boring as hell.

By "fairytale", I mean that weird goblin/hobbit thing, the weird fat witches, and the weird enemies in general.  But whatever, perhaps I just watched some rubbish gameplay videos.

Gameplay is completely different from Witcher 1, in that sense they're really not comparable. 

It sounds like you have a problem with literally every fantasy RPG if that's the case.  The vast majority of the world is human, followed by elves and dwarves and then there are some other rarer beings as well.  Witcher 3 has an unbelievable amount of depth and the gameplay can be pretty challenging on the higher levels.  I mean, I put over 180 into the main game and DLC and if I was a completionist I could have easily broken 200.  It's the best RPG I've ever played and I really can't recommend it enough.

You could try Witcher 2 for $3 as well.  Its gameplay is more similar to 3 than 1, but it lacks the polish.  I think 2 arguably has the best story in the series, but 3 is much better overall.  But really I'd just recommend buying 3.

Well, for whatever it's worth, I loved the first two games. Both of them have the most boringest parts as chapter 1 for some reason.

Witcher 3 is open world which therefore means NO boring parts.
