So I was watching this gameplay of MGS 5 from gamescom and WTF? Within the first 6 minutes, Snake (on horseback) made the horse poop on the road, then a jeep with 2 baddies drove over it and completely lost control of the vehicle, then they were "disoriented" so Snake just rushed to it, hooked some kind of rocket/balloon the the car and lifted it and the baddies inside into oblivion...

Ok, I'm not familiar with MGS at all, is this normal? I thought this was supposed to be a good series but it feels like a comedy sketch. What am I missing?

MGS games have always been serious on the outside but silly on the inside.

does the horse need to "reload" the poop, or can it do it all the time

the balloon thing is some mechanic they introduced in Peace Walker to recruit soldiers for your base, only now instead of just recruiting soldiers you can send supplies you find in the game to your base this way as well. i only know about this because i read an article where someone described doing this to a goat.

I don't why people have a problem with MGS5's goofiness.  Vamp can get shot in the head 5 times in MGS2 and still go running up vertical walls, Volgin can shoot electricity out of his hands in 3, but horses taking a poo poo on command is just UNTHINKABLE.  And have you already forgotten Rising REVENGEANCE?

Horses pooping on command isn't the worst part, it's the car going completely out of control after driving over it

it's at least in the realm of plausibility, unlike a supercomputer ship crashing into Manhattan and travelling a third of a mile on land, followed by a sword fight with the former president who is also a clone

there are so many things in this series that are so far beyond the pale compared to anything in that trailer

just staying within the trailer itself, Snake has a fricking robot arm!  that's way crazier than horses poo pooting or attaching balloons to sheep

I missed the part in the first post where you said you were unfamiliar with the series, so to answer your original question: yes that is perfectly normal.  In fact it's pretty tame, they've clearly walked back the series from the crazy poo poo that was going on in MGS4 and Metal Gear Rising.
