Hi EJ, IMO:

Chromecast Pros:
* Cheap
* Supports popular streaming services like Netflix & Hulu Plus
* Supports Chrome browser tab mirroring which may be useful for presentations and stuff like that

Chromecast Cons:
* Uses proprietary protocol
* Requires a smartphone for the remote
* Doesn't really play local files (there is a workaround that involves opening the file in a chrome browser tab on your PC and "casting" it to the Chromecast, but that kind of sucks, IMO)
