i thought it was interesting that they tazed the guy AFTER they had shot him, but yeah, the cop should have beat the poo poo out of the guy with his nightstick to display his dominance and prove that he is in fact not a fetching pussy

Difficult to see how this is justified.  The stupid kid doesn't appear to put anybody's life in danger.  Perhaps he did something to cause the cop to fire the first three shots, like try to throw the knife?  But then why the 6 slow and deliberate shots afterwards?  He obviously wanted the kid dead, maybe the cop got fed up of being called a pussy and simply gunned him down for it.  No attempt to properly secure the bus, or any attempt to resolve the situation peacefully (use taser first, negotiate with the dickhead, etc)

This is simply another example why guns shouldn't be made so widely available to police forces and the general public; they just turn everyone into trigger-happy psychopaths.

Appears to be a crappy situation overall.  But this involves Canadian law + the first time I read about the event (really just skimmed the article), so I am not qualified to say much about it from a legal perspective.

Expect a 50-page treatise with a sure-to-win-awards thesis within the hour.

If a cop tells you to drop the knife you should probably do it if you don't want to get shot.
The cop followed procedure, if you are faced with an armed and hostile perp you have to stop them.
The reason why he shot so many times is not because he was a bloodthirsty monster but because shooting somebody is extremely stressful and unless you are fully prepared you will likely overreact and keep shooting.

Maybe that person shouldn't be a cop then if he can't handle these kinds of situations without getting a little trigger-happy.
