Perhaps we can pick and watch movies as well as books.  Film club???

Why are we ripping off Filmcow? They have a book club, a movie club, and a minecraft server.

Maybe they have a time machine, went back in time, and ripped off YW.

I like the idea of having a movie club as well as a book club!

Also another suggestion for either of these clubs. For us to vote on

What do we think about Doing a Google Hangout or something to do the voting/discussion

That is a great idea, I suggested the google + hangout here and got no real response

Well most of us who are in the book club know each other already so I don't think it should be a problem now! Either way I'm voting Yes for it! It will be much easier to recommend the books we want to. It would also be easier for discussion. We can do discussions on both Google+ and Yourewinner I think. Just because it could be hard to coordinate everyone to do a google+ hang out so the people who can't can post on yourewinner or something?

I'll go #2 just as long as I don't choose first.

Just had the thought of reading deliberately stupid submissions vixra has

The point of #2 is that we all suggest books at the beginning and then pick them, so we will have like 6 books decided in advance and it's not just one person picking at once

Naturally we can't force anyone to actually read a book if they do not want to do so, but if part of the point is to expose ourselves to literature we would not have otherwise read, then it should take a lot to force the club to drop the book altogether.  Otherwise the literature might just boil down to the lowest common denominator.  That's why I liked the spontaneity of #1 coupled with the safety valve of 2/3 veto power, but maybe this problem can also be avoided with #2.
