I CANT DEFRAG TO LESS THAN 36 PERCENT

#1 07-07-2013, 08:32:28 AM
ON MY C drive, is this a problem? I ran the big long one and all that. On my previous install (This is a clean install with not much on it) I got to 4 percent or 2 percent after a defrag usually. What the fetch? is it that I just have windows and a few other things installed or what?

Someone told me defragging is a big lie anyway and that it is for suckers

Defragging is not a lie at all, and you should use the windows default software. It's probably just because it's a clean install

Defragging is actually a way to authorize the NSA to read and rearrange the files on your computers.  Don't do it.

Oh missed the clean install part. Most of the files in a clean install are probably system files which can't be moved so you're not going to get anything out of it. Defragging is for when you've been putting and deleting a lot of poo poo on your HD for a while.

on a clean install 36 percent of your files are system files

when you add stuff to it that are not system files, that goes down to 2 or 4 percent

(i don't think i've ever defragged at all, this is just complementing what dissident said for further explanation)
