Trying to find the name of a book

It had something to do with World War I never ending in an alternate timeline and some guy discovering this continent in the future that was supposed to be Europe after it was destroyed. There were tribespeople who used some mangled form of English in which guns were called "bang sticks" and women were called "shes". It was sort of like The Land That Time Forgot or The Lost World or something. I don't know who it was written by, but I'm pretty sure it was published around World War I. Any help in finding it would be appreciated.
