The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was said to be rather fond of cats.

"Muhammad (pbuh) awoke one day to the sounds of the Adhan, the Muslim daily call to prayer. Preparing to attend, he began to dress himself; however, he soon discovered his cat Muezza sleeping on the sleeve of his prayer robe. Rather than wake her, he used a pair of scissors to cut the sleeve off, leaving the cat undisturbed. When he returned from the Mosque, Muhammad (pbuh) received a bow from Muezza in gratitude. He then stroked his beloved cat three times."

I had some night market Shao Kao in Chinatown a few weeks ago, it was pretty unsanitary

That is a great story.
I shared it with my sister today when she asked me to get the cat off her work shirt.

What would happen if  Muezza didn't bow?

Probably the next day when the townsfolk saw that a grain of sand was out of place, Muezza would've got stoned to death when she stepped outside. Muhammad only wanted, Muezza, to feel guilty and indebted -the robe actually meant nothing to him. But, Muezza, in wanting to be more than a piece of meat with no rights, tried acting with a bit of dignity, and it cost Muezza her life.

For it was written.

Muhammad (pbuh) would never allow his favorite cat to be stoned. My Iraqi friend told me about a hadith involving a woman who abused her cats. When Muhammad (pbuh) learned that she had suffocated one of her cats, he was furious. He ordered her to be lashed several times as punishment. Later, she was caught suffocating another cat. This time, the angry Muhammad (pbuh) ordered her execution.

Nasrudin stories are funny but given how they turn out he doesn't sound like he'd be all too friendly with dogs or cats
