OFFICIAL FOOTBALL TOPIC III -- Chelsea sux version (but better than Arsenal)

ROFL that is garbage, they sold two players who's value went due to league and that accounts for their entire "Best run" title". It is more complicated than that. Arsenal's model is pretty much the envy of the premier league in terms of finances/sustainability. If you go by PERCENT turnover increase, Swansea may win just because of promotion and the cup, but I think that article is oversimplifying.

Oh right I forgot you get enraged at any mention of Swansea

#213 09-04-2013, 14:50:05 PM
If having a different opinion is being enraged, then yes!

No but I remember you ranting about Michu and the team the last time I brought it up and how they would be lucky to not be relegated

#215 09-04-2013, 15:02:41 PM
Yeah they are lucky and Michu isn't even running hot anymore, that is over.

I don't have a problem with the team, they are just nothing special at all. At best another fulham or rovers. If differing opinions and discussion is angry ranting to you I wont post in the thread!

MALAGA AWAY GOAL

#218 09-04-2013, 15:59:14 PM
Arsenal recorded 37 million , so i'm not sure what metric you are using to say Swansea is the best run in the premier league with 15 million. Also, out of Swansea's profit, they paid out a ridiculous dividend that enraged people to the point of saying they are being run in a corrupt manner.   It is well known that Arsenal's financial model is the best in the world as far as top flight goes, and undisputedly the best in England. #facts

^ My final enraged rant post in this thread

What ridiculous dividend??? The 2m to the owners that no fan cares about because the owners saved the team from the brink of destruction? And it's easy to make huge profits when you sell your best players every season!

I don't understand what your point is. Your argument is that Swansea made the most profit and was the best run, and that is not true.  No other club would dream of paying 1/7th of their profit as a dividend.

If you want to argue about wenger being afraid to spend, of course that is true.

As for swan's profit, all of it except 3 million was from player sales. Again don't see your point. They made more money from player sales (in percentage of turnover) than arsenal

Nobody ever said they made the most profit in the league.  They are publicly run, they can take some money back from what they've invested.  Good summary from a Swansea fan:

Quote
I'd be interested what others have to say about this article, as I feel I am not in a position to evaluate it without being hampered by my own biases.
Some points to consider:
The shareholders all work with the club, rather than simply have money invested in it. Our board are a very active collection of shareholder-directors.
The debts in question were never built up by anyone currently involved. The club was run into administration ultimately by Tony Petty, a man who basically came to strip assets and make away with what he could. The people currently involved had to drag us out of the jaws of closure.
The board worked without pay from when they took over, to our first season in the Premier League, including Huw Jenkins. They put their own money and time in and took none out while the club grew into something successful. Some are now on a wage (but not all), which I believe are trade-offs as they have been granted to allow individuals to quit their other ventures to focus solely on the club. I know Huw Jenkins is one case of this at least. I don't think this 'windfall' as they call it, especially when accounting for their initial investments, covers the labour they have put in.
I'm not entirely sure as to the legality of paying off old, written-off debts. I think when you have shareholders it might be problematic, and I'm not sure how much it would open the club up to further liabilities in accepting responsibility for the debts.
The growth of the local economy has been predicted at being around £40m a year while in the Premier League, which I would say covers the 'overall' social responsibility. The local university is also experiencing a big uptake in international students, who pay more and spend in the city, and also improve the academic standing of the establishment.
Perhaps some of you will have some interesting points to raise here, and I'd love to hear them. However, I do not begrudge these people receiving these bonuses, as they all took big risks in getting involved in the first place, and their commitment, work ethic and quality of work have all been exemplary.

Arsenal would be losing money without player sales.
