Picking someone who is a known big game screwup , in a controversial team selection that no one expected, with a referee who is known (From previous champions league encounters) to be card happy does have something to do with Ferguson, even if only tangentially.

I didn't say Man U would have won the game, but they were playing very well and you cannot argue that.  The ref was horrible from both sides, and Rafael should have been red-carded and a penalty given earlier in the game.  But Nani gets all the blame here, not SAF.
