This actually looks better than Windows 8.

Now I don't know if I should get a Nexus 7 or a Nexus 10 because a 10 inch screen would work better with the Ubuntu desktop.

I kind of doubt the Nexus 7 version will even support the desktop mode.

I've used the desktop version of Ubuntu on my Nexus 7 and it's pretty painful to use on such a small screen.
Pretty sluggish, too. You probably need at least a Cortex A15 (like the N10 has) to get anywhere near desktop-like performance on an ARM device.

Maybe The New Nexus 7 will be able to handle it.

If only the Nexus 10 weren't so gosh-darned expensive.

It's here
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Install

However it is very incomplete and probably not worth installing yet

I am disappointed  :unhappy:

This has nothing in common with the desktop Ubuntu.
Actually it's quite obvious that it's based on Cyanogenmod, smfh!!!

-Uses Android init instead of Upstart!
-Browing the filesystem I see CM init scripts and config files
-Binaries are linked against bionic instead of glibc
-No apt-get
-No nothing

Plasma Active Mer is a million times better than this poo poo

It is a TRUE Linux for your tablet:

omg I am sorry for giving wrong information!
I know some of you consider [hashtag]#steevnews[/hashtag] the gold standard, but I was wrong this time!

This IS real Ubuntu, running inside a chroot environment on top of Cyanogenmod (with all the Android framework ripped out).
apt-get is there ssh is there python is there everything is there! Canonical was actually very smart to do it this way because Cyanogenmod runs on a lot of devices!

Porting Ubuntu Touch to new devices looks very easy indeed!
