Different Star Trek episodes have different writers.

So did TNG and DS9, but they managed to keep their continuity consistent.

Don't go defending DS9. The only Star Trek is the real Star Trek. TOS, TNG, and Enterprise.

the new star trek movie is pretty good

you just have to realize it's supposed to be a reboot of the series for a new generation
so yes, it's kinda dumbed down, but it's done well

it's not supposed to be like HEY YOU'RE 60 YEARS OLD LOOK AT THIS EXACT REPLICA OF THAT SHOW YOU WATCHED 100 YEARS AGO
it's supposed to be hey this is a story about these characters that are also characters from this old show and it's told differently

the reason why they use the same characters and not just make a new IP from scratch is marketability

look up the plinkett reviews of the 2009 star wars movie, i think he explains it perfectly

Um, no, it absolutely unicorning isn't an academy.  It's a frontier station that's frequently involved in varying degrees of war, occupation and diplomacy because of its convenient location near a wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant.

I saw a bunch of college students in this one DS9 episode in the "Q Fan Collective", and at that point I decided the show was horrible. It works better than any sedative for putting you to sleep.

I'm trying to fathom what single episode of Enterprise led you to believe it was worthy of being considered equal to TOS/TNG, much less better than even one of the Ferengi-heavy DS9 episodes.
