apparently lime cucumber is a thing for the mexicans, so much so that Gatorade mass produces a flavor of their beverage for this market segment.  While not an energy drink in the traditional sense, this stuff tastes so awful it will perk you up right from the first sip.  In addition, unlike most energy drinks and stimulants which quickly succumb to tolerance, every sip is more repugnant than the last.  If you manage to choke down the whole bottle (which I came nowhere near doing) you will be filled with the energy of a migrant laborer working for each of the $3 per hour he gets to harvest crops under a brutal foreign sun.  Que delicioso!

Betel nut is a pretty decent Redbull alternative. The stimulant effect comes on quite quickly and the buzz is comparable to the feeling you get when you chug a pot of coffee in rush hour traffic. It has a minty taste and the texture of cured cockroach.

Energy drinks ain't even been around long enough to know the long-term effects of drinking them.
If anything, energy drinks probably make you live longer, because they give your body MORE ENERGY to keep on living.
