I could try something if you give me a general idea of what you're looking for, provided I remember to do it and stop being lazy.

Sorry for not checking in sooner: I'm moving into a new apartment and haven't had Internet. I am still working on this game everyday and should have something for DZ to play-test very soon. At this point, everything is subject to change (for one, I completely changed the intro and music). Here is a video of the first dungeon/boss and a new title screen created by DZ:

Also, should Shaq return in this game? If he does, he won't be speaking in Ebonics like in previous games. I'll try and keep you guys informed and will be checking in daily once I can afford the Internet.

Looks awesome, can't wait to try it out. I think it would be cool to see Shaq make an appearance just because I got attached to the character after playing both SFRPGs, but even something as simple as a cameo or subtle nod to his adventures would be great

I was actually going to have him join during a specific point after serving an advisory role under the guidance of Stell. I was digging through the old "Big Rigs RPG" thread from 2006 and found a great sprite of Shaq you created. Do you mind if I use it (with credit)?

Edit: Also, if anyone is wondering, that blue forcefield that plays functions as a sort of psionic defense. For three seconds, every time the player hits the "C" key, the controllable party member is invulnerable from all damage.

Go ahead and use whatever resources you want from the old BRRPG, but if I'm remembering right all the sprites were in that terrible default RPG Maker anime style.

I'm currently creating the spriteset for Kenny. I'm still working on the other animations for him but here is how he shows up in-game.

He looks very :loser:, excellent work

Thanks, man.   :roddy: One of the problems I had with old 16-bit RPGs was the generic village NPC. This morning I finally scripted a dialog system reminiscent of the SNES game Shadowrun. Hopefully this will help "spice up" conversations with random NPCs. I'll probably use this to both provide background information about more important NPCs and aid in optional quests that will force you to do a bit of investigation/information gathering.

This will be better than Chrono Trigger!

Wow, I'm honored. That's one of my favorite SNES games and I can only hope to make something half as good as that. I'm learning new things about the engine everyday. I planned on having a 2 - 3 hour playable demo ready by New Years, but I don't think that's going to happen just yet. All of the mapping and most of the dialog is complete, but there are many optional quests that I'm implementing right now.  Thanks for your interest. I've been working really hard on this.

Download link to the first chapter of the Big Rigs RPG. My next update will be either (inevitable) bugfixes to this version or the fullgame (which is still months away). I have yet to test this on another computer besides my own so I'm not sure how well it runs (if at all).

Also, there is some annoying splash screen that seems inherent to the free version of Engine 001. If there is some way to circumvent it, I have yet to figure it out. Hope you guys enjoy.

EDIT: Also, this version only runs in Windows for now. Sorry guys.

I'm thinking of making a new thread for the Big Rigs RPG, but I might hold off until I post the completed game. The "chapter 1" demo I posted is around 2 hours long if you complete all of the side quests and know exactly what to do. To progress through the game, you have to gather information via dialog with NPCs by unlocking keywords. Also, the entire mood of this game is different from my previous ones. Think film noir meets Duke Nukem.

Here is an updated video of the current combat. To those who have been following the game, you'll notice that the combat has been dramatically overhauled. It is now fully mouse-based (though you can still use the keyboard if you prefer).

I played through the game again and it is fully playable. There are some minor bugs, but nothing that should crash the game.

Also, HWSNBN may or may not make an appearance. Currently, he doesn't have a place in the story, but I could easily write him in.

Thanks. Currently, the bugs I included in the demo version have been fixed and I have added hotkeys for spells; the AI for enemies and allies is also being reworked to be a lot more intelligent.

Also, I updated SFRPG 2 to version 1.4 if any lurkers/members care. It fixes the "failed to create bitmap bug" that will crash the game if the AI sequence for bosses updates without the boss being visible on the player's screen (TTRay for example).

EDIT: Figured I would just post one of the endings to SFRPG2 since those who downloaded the previous versions were probably unable to beat the game. I'm fully dedicated to finishing BRRPG, so SFRPG2 is old news to me. I know that I certainly wouldn't want to play through it again for the two hundredth time.
