Well, the latest update confirms it. How does a company whose last 3 games were a success, both critically and commercially closes is beyond me. Apparently they failed to secure a console publishing deal but so what, their last 3 games were PC exclusives anyway. Nowadays all you have to do is make a decent game and put it on Steam to assure good sales, specially if that game is part of a beloved franchise with a large cult-following

they certainly didn't lose any money from piracy

Every company loses money to piracy, as long as you still make a profit what's the reason to quit? The first STALKER alone sold 2 million copies in a year. They released a sequel that was actually considered inferior by everyone (fans and press) and they STILL released ANOTHER sequel after that. I doubt they were losing money all this time
