I know you guys like to VOTE for all, but what if you could POST for all? i.e. your topic shows up in all the boards and so do the replies!

Yeah, pretty much this.  Unless there was like a "floating topic" that showed up on all boards, I can't see how the OP would be any different from Announcement Topics.
