Daily WINNER rating Day II: Snatcher

#1 06-01-2008, 20:01:18 PM

Here's how it goes.  You rate the item on a scale of 1-10 on it's WINNERness.  1 being  :loser:, 10 being  :stamp:.  Decimals are allowed.  After you rate the item, you can nominate 1-2 other items using 5 "points".  You can also predict what the item will get.  Closest predictions will be awarded 10 points to a nomination.  You may also nominate revotes of something.  Simply put, you can spend 5 points in any way you want in nominating new items, revotes, or adding points to already nominated items.

Rules:

1) No scores over 10 or under 1.
2) You may not nominate more than 2 new items.
3) Your points are restored every day, and can be reused for nominations or adding points to already nominated items.
4) You do not have to nominate or predict.
5) Outliers will be ignored and calculated into an alternate score.
6) No justifications or reasons will be needed, but they're allowed.
7) You do not need to spend all of your points.
8) If there are equal amounts of nominations for a topic, one will be randomly selected.

Basically, it's as simple as this.

Big Rigs: 10/10
Predict: 9.9/10
Nominate Shaq Fu x3
Add points to N-Gage x2.

The Rankings:
Day 1: Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing - 100%

Nominations Board:
Shaq Fu - 5
Action 52 - 5
Superman 64 -5
Zero Wing - 5
Battletoads - 5
HWSNBN - 5

Today's subject: Snatcher
Snatcher (スナッチャー, Sunatchā?) is a cyberpunk-themed adventure game. It has gained a small cult following due to its mature storytelling, adult themes and (in later versions) voice acting. It was heavily influenced by various sci-fi and noir films, most notably Blade Runner (main character and city views), They Live (which deals with body snatching), Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Thing (which also dealt with paranoia and human doubt) and The Terminator (robots). Also of note is the great similarity between the game's premise and that of an obscure 1986 TV movie called Annihilator [1](Which also deals with the concept of killer robots that replace existing people).

Snatcher was written and directed by Hideo Kojima. It was developed and published by Konami. Originally released in Japan for the NEC PC-8801 and MSX 2 in 1988, it was remade for the PC-Engine in 1992 and ported to the Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn in 1996. A Sega CD version was also produced specifically for English localization in North America, which was also released in the PAL region for European counterpart, the Mega CD.

A series of projects yet to be announced are currently in production and are tentatively titled Project 'S'; for now only a radio drama has been confirmed.
