Fixing dead pixels?
(1/1)
Namclone
Dear all,

My LCD monitor has had a dead pixel for awhile.  Normally this has not been a problem to me, but recently I have begun playing the great Amnesia: The Dark Descent game.  Given the general dark visual tone of the game, the dead pixel stands out like a sore thumb.  How can I worry about SPOILER (hover here to read)
running away from an invisible (possibly water-based) monster when I have a single dead pixel staring at my soul?

Are there ways to fix dead pixels?  A website offers some methods, but I'm curious if any WINNERs here think these methods are bogus or if there are alternatives.  http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/how-to-fix-a-dead-pixel/

Thanks.

if the pixel is lit up (in any color) it's not dead, it's stuck
you can't fix dead pixels but you might be able to fix stuck pixels

the only ways i know (never had a stuck pixel to try) are gently but firmly massaging the area around it in case it's the actual liquid that's the problem or programs which strobe colors and patterns really fast around the are in order to try to unstuck it

I had a dead pixel once and I never managed to get rid of it

If it's actually a STUCK pixel your chances are higher.

The first method worked.  I used the (sealed) tip of a pen and gently/firmly rubbed the area.  There is no longer a stuck pixel.  Thanks!

Thank you everyone for your insightful suggestions.  You each contributed admirably and in your own ways helped me reach my goal.  I thank you all again.  Mods, please feel free to close/lock the thread and sticky.
