absolutely not, almost to the point of parody.  it's great seeing a new one come out looking like a game from 15 years ago with the same boring premise

and it's sad seeing the number of adult children who still actually enjoy the same gameplay loop as red/green

I got pokemon violet as a gift Christmas 2022 and I couldn't get over how fetching horrible it was glitchy broken poo pooty low fps mess played about an hour or two and fetching never touched it again

series peaked with gen 1 (also I have only played gen 1)

I think Gold/Silver was probably the peak, just because red green were naturally janky as first outings (although that's also their charm)

I tried playing Diamond when it came out and it was really just Gold with a new coat of paint, and its been a devolution since then.  more talking to NPCs with no voice acting, more dumb poo poo to feed your pokemon to micromanage stats, and it always boils down to building a team of legendaries and leveling them up

Gold and silver were peak for sure. You have a great time playing in a Johto and just when you think you beat the game they send your ass over to play through Kanto again with the old gym leaders and stronger teams
