Somewhat. François-Marie-Thomas Chevalier de Lorimier is whom I believe you are referring to, he was a figure in the patriot movement in Quebec. They actually have their own holiday in the month of May but since they were an early form of resistance to British colonialism, they are still used as a symbol during nationalist events such as the St-Jean Baptiste.
