Good point EJ I also look forward to the possibility of viewing Netflix on Linux without hacks like PipeLight, but why is DRM required to do that??
It's not there to prevent us from copying (that's impossible!), so it must be there purely to #scroogle us, to prevent us from streaming Netflix to the devices we really want to like rpi/xbmc!

People are calling it the "HollyWeb", but I know this is really being led by Google

You should design a better version of flash yourself. I can help if you want

At this point, HTML5 is well up to par with Flash and getting better.

only in the functional sense, flash is still very good for making animations in (plus most serious animators who use it just convert their movies to another format and upload them to youtube anyway)

basically the whole aspect of actionscript is outdated (but shouldn't stop being supported, for older apps and games), and should be superseded by something else like html5 or js

I'm no expert but I've fricked around with HTML5 canvas and audio APIs and honestly it seems like a major PITA compared to flash. That's why I'm excited about OpenFL/Haxe. It allows flash developers to continue using a lot of the same tools and an API that's similar to the one they're already familiar with. It also has the advantage that it can be compiled to native code on all major platforms or even exported to HTML5, which solves 2 of the major problems with flash player: Poor performance and poor cross-platform support!

A lot of big flash devs are switching to OpenFL/Haxe:
  • Binding of Isaac dev
  • Neo Scavenger dev
  • Evoland Dev
  • Defenders Quest dev
  • Probably more!?

Exciting times m8
