What about the bacon?  I've never really been a fan of bacon on burgers, does 5 guys do that better?

Burger Ranch is the best, accept no substitute

DZ is right. five guys is incredibly "just ok." it tastes like any burger you could make on the grill with supermarket ingredients

never had the hotdogs there but the bacon is great (I think all bacon is great)

The toppings menu isn't that confusing, it lists the toppings and you pick what you want, rather simple actually.
If the menu IS too long for you and you're not picky, just order it "all the way" and you get ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, and grilled mushrooms.

If grease is something you're trying to avoid, a sloppy burger joint probably isn't the place for you anyways, which is exactly what 5 guys is advertised to be. Greasy, sloppy and will almost certainly permanently raise your cholesterol levels, exactly the way a burger should be. If that bothers you then go eat a veggie burger you communist scum.

The fries aren't crispy, if you want crispy fries that make crunchy noises when you bite into them then don't get them here. That's not too say they are floppy half cooked fries either.
They are cooked to order so you know they're fresh, and the portions are pretty large so you don't have to worry about being hungry afterwords.
I don't think they're bad at all, probably because i'll eat damn near anything.

Just image search 5 guys (safe search on or off is your choice) and you'll see what you'll be getting, it's not a pretty burger and it's not supposed to be.
Depending on what you order it may be extremely messy so be prepared for that.
If you want an average burger experience like 90% of all burger chains are, then give 5 guys a shot and decide for yourself. If you're looking for a life changing burger experience then start your own food network channel and start travelling the globe.

A lot of people in this thread (including me before) think they're Guy Fieri and probably look just as ridiculous. JAVIKS is right go on Food Network if you want to be like that

I like how @JAVIKS started by saying "5 guys is great" and then it descended into an "average burger experience".  I think the supermarket burger comparison is spot-on.

My average burger experience IS great, which I credit to my ability of enjoying things and not being elitist
