For me it's story first, then side quests.

I try to do both but usually I don't ever finish the game

Side quests until I get too overpowered for the main story

I suppose it depends on the game, but I always prioritize side quests because I'm worried I'll miss one or something if I advance the story too much

neither I just uninstall the game and give up

I have trouble with the last one.
