It made me appreciate just how good of an introduction to roguelikes POWDER is

Uploading a bunch of ToME screenshots now, but I will first point out my favorite thing about the game.  When you're in the game you're automatically connected to a chat room with everyone else who is playing--you can link items or enemies and ask the veteran players for advice.  It's amazingly helpful.  The dev can sometimes be found chatting with people too.  Similarly, everything can be found online.  For example, here is my profile.  You can view all of my characters, their stats and the game log right before they were killed.

From a while ago
The dev will sometimes activate certain things for everyone who is playing.  In this case, it's an ability that gives you a small percentage of turning into a bunny for a few turns which raises your chance of a critical hit.

DCSS is really great and I think most people would argue it's the best RL out there

Yeah it's all turn-based and there are rolls.
