Read 1984 by George Orwell for the full reference. Basically Newspeak is a language everyone is being pushed to use in the book that has less words in it and limits the way you can modify words, making it more difficult to express thoughts that the state doesn't want you to have. The line of thinking is that as people lose the ability to express those thoughts, eventually they also lose the ability to have those thoughts.
