How is this a bad thing again?

It's a bad thing to shock people with an announcement that things they've always gotten for free might no longer be free. Doing something like that slowly overtime is a better thing.

Paid mods aren't a bad thing but allowing free mods to suddenly charge money was bad.

ZIGS is just mad because he isn't a paid mod.

So dumb, not everything needs to be about profits and "compensation"!! Plenty of things can motivate you besides money

It's a huge problem in the FOSS world because you got genius coders like Fabrice Bellard who will make something like ffmpeg for free, yet the UX/design guys always be like "I don't work for free".

Now this MOD SCENE is trying to become a MOD INDUSTRY it seems, and I don't like it at all!

I've paid for mods before, there are certainly times where it makes sense to me.

A lot of the cosmetic items you can get in valve games are essentially paid mods. All of them, if you count ones that valve themselves have made. Additionally, in Dota 2 they added the ability for them to put a subscribe button on certain community made maps that will give you some perks for a month for $.99. All of these things are good and also already in steam.

They may as well be paid mods. The community's both bold and savvy enough to just steal whatever they don't want to pay for any ways.
