real talk?

i failed my driving exam because i was too nervous and that left me kinda pissed because now i'll have to pay ludicrous amounts of money to take it again

my family has been borderline poo pooty towards me lately and that has been making me increasingly stressed

on the other hand i've been doing some things to distract myself like restoring an old imac and making famicompo entries which help a good deal

That iMac is dope, good work.  I used one of those in 1999 for a school project!!  Also you have a lot of tray icons

i got the imac for $25 on a junk computer parts shop, it had about 14 years of dust on and in it and a broken hdd making a loud grinding noise, i washed the plastic case, replaced the hdd and took the dead battery out, it's like new and runs OS X 10.3.9 quite well for a model b (tray loaders were the first models and as such are quite slow, mine is 233mhz compared to the later G3s being 400 to 600mhz)

I have a lot of tray icons because I leave a lot of stuff running in the background! two tray programs i use and recommend are speedfan, for monitoring temperatures and controlling fan speed (if your computer supports it) and f.lux, which makes your screen progressively warmer (in terms of color) during the night so you don't strain your eyes looking at a bright screen.

I'm using f.lux but I haven't noticed any change in desire to sleep or anything.  It is pretty jarring to make sure it's running and get blasted with light though so I guess that's cool?

the default settings kinda suck, yeah

here's what i have:
day: 6500k
night: 3400k
transition speed: slow (60m)

You should see if they still have them and if they're willing to throw them away (or sell for really cheap), they're quite nice little machines to tinker with and even mine which is like the first model ever runs pretty nice with the right software (I can browse the web, talk on IRC and listen to internet radio, that's pretty much all I can ask for on a day-to-day basis). I kinda wish I had a slot-loading ruby one but I figure I can't really be picky with this kind of thing (pretty much any and all apple computers here are substantially rare no matter what so the fact i found this imac let alone for a cheap price (because it was "broken") was quite amazing)

only if they changed it because the default when i first started using it had it much warmer than that at night and fast transition (which i have no idea who in their right mind would use it or even why you can't set a custom duration)

anyway it kinda takes a while to get used to the orangeness of everything at first (if you start using it at night) but by the second day you shouldn't even notice it come on, but the lack of eye strain you have from a bright screen should be really noticeable, or at least it was for me

3400K is the setting if your room is lit with halogen bulbs. I use fluorescent bulbs so it recommends 4500K for that and it looked much better

Huh, I don't remember it saying any of that. Is that just written somewhere or does it say the type of light in the program? Because if it does, then I definitely have an older version

Yeah when you open the settings it says that.
