WayForward is running a Kickstarter for a new Shantae sequel. It's gonna come out for PC (via Steam), 360, PS3, Wii U, PS4, and Xbone.

Funding rewards start at $5 for a Shantae wallpaper, and getting the game itself is $15.
There was a limited-quantity deal for reserving a copy of the game for $12 (only 1,000 available), but it's          to claim! :unhappy:

I thought you had a PS3 or something along the lines of that, Cirus.

(Though I would prefer a pixel-art based artstyle like the original Shantae games, or something like Rayman Legends, over the cartoon-ish vector art of the sprites they're using right now.)

I do, but my main concern is how boring the game looks.

Neither of the two released Shantae titles (the original GBC version and Risky's Revenge) sold well, so they don't have the money from that for sequels.

Maybe WF wants to do something bigger than the very short Risky's Revenge or the low-budget 3DS eShop game they're finishing up, and their spare profit from the crappy licensed titles they take on isn't enough to expand their vision.

Virt asking for a poo pooload of money for his musical talents might have something to do with this as well.

>musical talents

wayforward sells a poo pooton of cellphone-quality games forever

they could probably make the money for this game if they stopped drinking expensive starbucks coffee for like one day

I think Kickstarting is a great way to gauge the potential market for a game like this, even if the capital already exists.  It's a niche nostalgia thing that would be a big risk otherwise, and if they don't assume too much post-release income they can probably break even easily.

This game looks totally unimpressive.  I'm a little baffled by Wayforward's handling of these things by straight copying the old game mechanics (Ducktales) instead of taking the chance to do even the slightest innovation.  It just looks really boring.
