How do you protect information in your computer?

What software do you use? Do you encrypt or password-protect certain files?
Right now I am using Prey (www.preyproject.com) in case my laptop is stolen, but I would like to know what other people here use or do.

I use LUKS encryption to keep yourewinner.com's secrets safe.

If you are on Windows I recommend TRUECRYPT

I don't do anything special and up until now I have been fine so I will continue to essentially do nothing

i have nothing to hide
i still just use prey on my phone for locking and locating it in case it gets stolen

i use the sticky note app thingy so i can post all of my important passwords right on my desktop, and just in case i use real sticky notes stuck to my real desk so i have the passwords in plain sight

i use KeyPass to store an encrypted list of my passwords, but other than that i don't do anything like password-protect or encrypt folders and files on my computer because i don't have anything worth taking the time/resources to protect

Thanks, EJ, I've been meaning to start using this since Twitter and Evernote got hacked and I had to change my passwords.
I'm still not sure about having all of my passwords in one place, but at least LastPass seems to have a good security track record #YOLO #EJrocks

do you have to subscribe for lastpass to be decent, or is there a permanent 'free' version
Steve

The free version is permanent. The only limitation I found is I can't use the mobile app without subscribing. That kind of sucks.

Ah OK, usually free software downloads like that are 30-day trials, or are so limited as to be unusable
But yeah the mobile app does suck, is there any better free password management software out there
