When the Union Aerospace Corporation says "jump", you're just one of the guys that say "how high?" - and "in the general direction of which mouth of Hell?"  You've lived through this nightmare at least three times.  You're ready for flame-barfing Wookie imps, totally-not-beholders cacodemons, and those scrotum demon monsters that ran around on chicken legs.  You're ready for Cyberdemons.  You're ready for heads on poles and poo poo jumping out at you from pitch blackness.

You're still not ready for this:

100 tiny midgets.  A swarm of them.  Purple-stained blue skin, withered lips receding from dirty gnashing teeth, and thirsty for the juice of life.

Their once peaceful life spanned hundreds of years.  But, it was the Night Of The Smurfcomet, when a combination of radiation and space dust caused the Smurfs to rise from their ancient graves and consume the living.  Once all the Smurfs were infected with the cosmic demon virus, they moved on to other nearby living things.

Drawn by the scent of a dead rabbit, the Smurf Zombies find and enter one of the cave entrances to Hell.  There, they are met by two Cyberdemons.  But the Cyberdemon missiles prove to be too slow and too large for the swarming zombie Smurfs.  Over the course of four and a half horrible hours, the Smurfs skeletonized every denizen of Hell they came across.

And finally, they have worked their way to the UAC Containment Facility.  You and your squad were sent in to contain the swarming menace.  As you stayed behind and kept the engine running on the VTOL, your squad went in.  Within moments, all you heard on the intercom was screaming.  And now, all you hear is silence.

Donning your helmet and grabbing the nearest pistol, you head for the entrance.  You jump in, and you see carnage on every wall.  You see the swarm.  They see you.

You fire your pistol.  The Smurfs are too small, and coming at you too quickly - you can't pick off enough of them to make a difference.  If you don't act fast, you're going to be Knee-Deep In The Undead.

Then, you see the barrel.  You take careful aim with your pistol and squeeze one off.

KA-BOOM

The tiny corpse-things are engulfed in flames, and disintegrate quickly.  Your plan worked.  And now, you know how to kill them.

Searching a nearby storage room, you find a conveniently-placed incendiary weapon and a few crates of ammo.  Locked and loaded, you set out towards the center of the facility.  This evil cannot be allowed to cross the border into our world - and if that means destroying the UAC Gateway Facility, then so be it.  Your mission is clear - fight your way through the swarming menace, get to the nuclear reactor at the center of the facility, and cause a total meltdown.

Fire kills them.  That's all you need to know.  Well, that, and the quickest route back to your VTOL - assuming you survive this suicide mission through Hell.
