Introduction:

Since I'm the most creative member of these forums and since Cirus® is WAAAAAAY behind on these contests, we're having a new competition.

In the spirit of radio sound board operators, Second Life players, Minecraft, and every loud and obnoxious first person shooter out there, this week your task is to design a sound effect that will take everyone's breath away. It can be anything in the world other than a spoken phrase. You may not use sound effects you got off of the internet. It should be 10 seconds or under and be well edited, trimming away any unintended background noise and it should bring to mind an image. Audacity and GarageBand are good audio editors, or you can do it the old-fashioned way and edit your sound using analog instruments or simply make noise with stuff while recording using a voice recorder. Farts, burps, and electronic instrument notes don't count.

Submitting:

Your file should be in the MP3 format and uploaded to this site. If the file is in another format, it should be uploaded to another site such as 2shared, uppit, mediafire, or rapidshare.

i think bjorno's entry is plenty valid as you don't have to waste precious seconds downloading a file just to play a 10 second sound clip in some other application
