Something you can send to M$ shills

Hello, yourewinner.com still needs an app for iOS. Hopefully this quick guide for dummies can get you started!

yourewinner.com uses a slightly modified version of Tapatalk API, which is mostly documented HERE. Tapatalk uses a simple protocol called XML-RPC, which is mostly documented HERE.

Basically it works like this:
1) Send your XML document (via HTTP POST) to http://yourewinner.com/winnerapi/mobiquo.php
2) yourewinner.com will return an XML document containing the data you asked for
3) Parse the XML document in your app
4) :winner:

(note there are user-friendly xmlrpc libraries for most languages so you can avoid dealing with the XML completely)

Examples:

Method: login
Description: Logs you in
Required params: username (base64), password (base64)
Notes: any time the tapatalk docs say type is byte[], that means you have to base64 encode it
Code: [Select]
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<methodCall>
  <methodName>login</methodName>
  <params>
    <param>
        <value><base64>XXX69XX</base64></value>
    </param>
    <param>
        <value><base64>X69696XX</base64></value>
    </param>
  </params>
</methodCall>

Curl command:
Code: [Select]
curl -c cookies.txt  -b cookies.txt -H "Content-Type: application/xml" -d @login.xml http://yourewinner.com/winnerapi/mobiquo.php

Python3 (using xmlrpc library)
Code: [Select]
from xmlrpc.client import ServerProxy, Binary, Error

# see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/25876503/how-to-retain-cookies-for-xmlrpc-client-in-python-3
client = ServerProxy("http://yourewinner.com/winnerapi/mobiquo.php", CookiesTransport())

def login(username, password):
    # base64 encode parameters
    username = Binary(username.encode("utf-8"))
    password = Binary(password.encode("utf-8"))
    try:
        resp = client.login(username, password)
        return resp["result"]
    except Error as e:
        print("ERROR:", e)
        return False

Method: get_latest_topic
Description: Returns a list of the latest topics ordered by date
Required params: start_num (int), end_num (int)
Notes: get_latest_topic(0, 9) returns first 10 topics
Code: [Select]
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<methodCall>
  <methodName>get_latest_topic</methodName>
  <params>
    <param>
        <value><int>0</int></value>
    </param>
    <param>
        <value><int>9</int></value>
    </param>
  </params>
</methodCall>

Curl command:
Code: [Select]
curl -c cookies.txt -b cookies.txt -H "Content-Type: application/xml" -d @get_latest_topic.xml http://yourewinner.com/winnerapi/mobiquo.php

Python3 (using xmlrpc lib)
Code: [Select]
from xmlrpc.client import ServerProxy, Binary, Error

# see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/25876503/how-to-retain-cookies-for-xmlrpc-client-in-python-3
client = ServerProxy("http://yourewinner.com/winnerapi/mobiquo.php", CookiesTransport())

def get_latest_topic(start, end):
    try:
        resp = client.get_latest_topic(start, end)
        # print username and short content
        for topic in resp["topics"]:
            msg = "{}: {}".format(resp["post_author_name"], resp["short_content")
            print(msg)
    except Error as e:
        print("ERROR:", e)

Well that is pretty much everything you need to know to start making yourewinner.com app for iOS. Let me know if you have any questions. I am here to help 24/7

Lately, a lot of people have been asking that. Basically I'm not sure yet. It depends on a lot of things....

Here's my questions:

1. Is it the true successor of 3DS, or will Nintendo release an upgraded *DS (which would be cool if they did)???

I LOVE all Nintendo handhelds and if Switch is the true successor to 3DS then I want it, but I'm not ENTIRELY convinced that it really is. Looks kind of big to be portable and it's also trying to be a home console, which is something idgaf about..... Also the loss of dual-screens and touch seems like a huge regression to me. These allowed for many innovations such dynamic on-screen buttons or maps that didn't get in your way, also games like WarioWare just used them in cool and crazy ways. I think this was before iPhone made touchscreen smartphones standard, so as usual Nintendo was just way ahead of the times....

2. Will it get hacked????

If hacked, Nintendo switch is probably the best emulation handheld ever made.  If you want an emulation handheld your choices right now are basically:

* Pandora/Pyra - old hardware, bad build quality, expensive
* GPD Win - x86/runs Windows
* Hacked 3DS or Vita - weak hardware, non-standard graphics APIs make it harder to port over emulators like Mupen64plus/Dolphin/PPSSPP
* Android devices - no physical buttons, unpredictable latency

Nintendo Switch:
* Powerful handheld
* Superior Nintendo build quality
* Tegra GPU should easily handle the best CRT shaders
* Probably powerful enough for good SNES emulation (Maybe even bsnes/bsnes-mercury?)
* Full OpenGL/Vulkan support
* Dolphin/Vulkan can potentially run well???

3. Will Nintendo be friendly to indies???

This is the biggest question. Switch probably won't get a lot of AAA 3rd-party support (who cares), which leaves first party titles and indies. A lot of my favorite indie devs are already drooling over Nintendo Switch. Ethan Lee (porter of many Mac/Linux games), Lars  ??? (dev of Defender's Quest), etc. But will Nintendo allow them to sell their games on the eShop. Who knows?

Hope we can get some of those questions answered tomorrow during the presentation.

Thanks for reading!!

I noticed reddit has the same angry reaction to both Hawaiian pizza and Coors Light. Why? Discuss?

It's time again for my yearly post about the state of gaming

It's been a pretty , but not perfect I'll admit

1000+ new games, more AAAs than usual thanks to Square Enix and Feral Interactive

The indie scene continues to flourish with games like Rocket League, Stardew Valley, and of course the MVP:

It was the year of the Vulkan API - a new low-level graphics API for everyone!

The first major game to use it was the new DOOM which IRONICALLY (or not) was a windows-only game 👺

Bethesda later felt sorry and removed the evil Denuvo DRM, which allowed the game to run perfectly in wine with identical performance to windows.
Vulkan was also used by Talos Principle and a bunch of FOSS emulators (ParaLLEl, Dolphin, etc)

Hope to see more games with Vulkan in 2017!!

It was also the year my friend @whatusername switched to Linux (at least part time), which is great to see

I think that's it for the good news, now for the         :

* Steam Machines were a flop

* People getting used to the idea of Windows 10

* Windows gamers elected Trump

* Tracer is gay which goes against Christianity

So what's next for me?? Idk, I'll probably keep playing roguelikes, maybe get a Nintendo Switch too, but I will NEVER, EVER become a Windows gamer

STEEV'S KORNER ! / FOSSpotlight: youtube-dl
19-12-2016, 00:58:27 AM
Hi so basically this is a  program you can point to pretty much any web page that embeds a video and it will try to download it.
It is much more powerful than browser addons that try to do the same (can use in your own scripts, etc)

I use it a lot to download episodes of raw and smackdown to watch on my raspberry pi.

You can also use it to archive your favorite youtube/pornhub channels, etc (I am currently downloading mobiletechreview it is quite large!!)

Let me know what your own use case is

Peace
