There was this one day when i went out on a delivery route to the trashy poor area of aurora, which is most of aurora now that i think about it. We were delivering a new fridge to this mexican family and the mom didn't speak english so the daughter had to translate everything.

It was super cool when we pulled out the old fridge and there were upwards of 30 or 40 cockroaches that started running all over the walls and floor and poo poo, and my partner for that day was as calm and collected as i had ever seen him (he is usually a loud foul-mouthed kind of guy) and asks if they have any cockroach spray as if it was a completely normal thing. I can only assume the girl turned bright brown-red as she turned to her mom to ask, who also was visibly embarrassed that their otherwise clean apartment in the middle of the ghetto was infested. There is just no way someone can live with that bad of an infestation without knowing it.

We had a fun rest of the day knowing that there were still cockroaches on the fridge that were probably spreading all over the back of the truck, and we were probably covered in cockroach filth.

I am absolutely terrified by cockroaches.  One time at my uncle's place in south Texas I was about to go to sleep on his poo pooty couch in his incredibly filthy living room when I spotted a dead one behind the couch.  Then I found another, and then another, another, another, another, another, one skittered by me on the floor and another went up the wall.  Then I slept in my car and left the next day.

My mom used to work at the 76 station (actually i think now it's a 7-11) and one night it got covered in cockroaches THOUSANDS OF THEM
Me and my dad went over there with cans of Raid and sprayed the poo poo out of them, but there were just too many.

They only stayed there for one night then they probably went over to the burger king or something.

Okay update I saw my roach a second time, it peeked out from the door of the unfinished part of the basement and was about to travel into the light of the furnished basement when I yelled like a girl and it ran off in the other direction. It's one of them big American Cockroaches. Hopefully it was the same one I saw earlier that night. I don't know if I should be glad that its a huge lone American one rather than hundreds of quick-breeding tiny German ones.

I could handle silverfish in my dorm room but this guy is just too big to be rational around.

another fun story: when I was housesitting my parents' place last month I was about to go to bed when I heard this faint scraping sound.  I went to the kitchen and at the corner of a wall there was a little hole.  From it was protruding an antenna, and behind I could see a shiny cockroach head as it was trying to chew and scrape its way out of the wall.  Didn't sleep very well that night.

I'm keeping hope that there's just one that found its way in because it was too cold outside but who knows maybe theres a whole colony. So far out of my family I'm the only one who has seen it and I've only been back a day. Bought traps today anyway but they seem really small compared to the beast I witnessed.
