I've actually got high hopes for our opening match against Italy.  They recently played a friendly against Luxembourg, one of the worst teams in the world (ranked 112th).  1-1 draw!  There's conflict between their manager and players, for him dropping a good player from their team.  Also, in that opening match we sold all of our tickets to England supporters (2500), whereas Italy only sold a measily 200 to their own fans and had to send the rest of the tickets back!

So despite how badly we've recently played, I think Italy may be worse.

Italy is historically bad in friendlies but I can't fault you for your classic English optimism
