Come play SimCity 4 with us!! Using Dropbox, we can share a folder automatically and allows us to all play on the same region.  Here's what you need to get started:

1. Give me your email so you can get invited to Dropbox
2. Make sure you have Dropbox installed on your PC and automatically syncing.  The default location for the necessary folder in Dropbox is at "C:\Users\USERNAME\Dropbox\SimWINNER\Fileshare"
3. Install Simcity 4 Deluxe
4. Change your shortcut to use the Dropbox folder

Non-Steam:

Your shortcut should point to:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -w -r1600x900x32 -CustomResolution:enabled -intro:off -CPUPriority:low -UserDir:"C:\Users\USERNAME\Dropbox\SimWINNER\Fileshare"

Steam:

Add -CPUPriority:low -UserDir:"C:\Users\USERNAME\Dropbox\SimWINNER\Fileshare" to your "Launch Options", as well as any custom resolution you want.

We'll be using the Network Addon Mod (here) because it makes the traffic flow infinitely better. You don't need to install this, it's in the Dropbox folder.

The only issue is that there will be trouble if you are playing the city adjacent to somebody else while they are online, and you make connections to their city.  That can cause desyncs, so don't do that!

Finally, we will be using the New York region so switch to that when you load up the game.  By default, it's in the Timbuktu region.

I would like in on this.  Not immediately though, I have never really played SimCity before so I'm still trying to grasp the basics

Updated the original post.  Assuming default Dropbox install, it should point to C:\Users\USERNAME\Dropbox\SimWINNER\Fileshare, not to Documents\Dropbox

My Steam launch options:
-w -r1600x900x32 -CustomResolution:enabled -intro:off -CPUPriority:low -UserDir:"C:\Users\Cirus\Dropbox\SimWINNER\Fileshare"

I think mine was only different because I installed dropbox a long time ago

this laptop has a newer install and it uses the same path as cirus'

they probably changed it somewhen along the way
