I know we Americans like to think we invented everything (Including Cornbread, Jerk chicken, Macaroni Pie, Fabada de Asturias, and Guitars) but really a guitar is a bizarre, unusual instrument and the "Plateau" of fine music occurred about 50 years before this country was even created. How did we ever lay claim to classic rock when really most of that started in Liverpool England?

And even if we did invent electric guitars, people were using lutes and poo poo long before that. Yet another stolen "American" creation

An EXAMPLE OF REAL MUSIC:

Banner what are your opinions on the origins of classic rock and the electric guitar?

classic rock is an evolution of stuff like big band & swing, jazz, and some blues and all that descends from stuff like bluegrass and spirituals with the latter coming heavily from African slave songs and the former coming from Old World folk songs from England/Scotland/Ireland and the like.

as for electric guitars, plucked stringed instruments have a long and storied history around the world; Les Paul is still a cool guy and i wish i could find parts to fix the seven-string guitar that i own and at some point i want to get a 12-string of some kind, dunno whether it will be electric or acoustic though.
