It really amazes me how the British here have turned something as seemingly innocent as the Union Jack into a symbol of hate. I am talking about the   icon. Superimposed over the British flag is a crying dog. If you are unaware, dogs are considered ritually unclean by Muslims and therefore could be upsetting to them. Even the British police are decent enough to acknowledge this. After a community backlash against an insensitive police recruitment ad picturing a puppy, the department decided to pull it.
