well how are you storing them now? surely there's a way you're storing the spear type since it's not all one type of spear
my idea would be that instead of just the type you store something that can be converted back into 3 numbers: x, y and type

that gets parsed by php when loading the spears

The way I have it now there are 3 fields in the database that store how many of each type of spear there are, then I have a for loop that displays them all.

If I convert those 3 fields to arrays I can just do this to display them:
$z_index = 1;
foreach ($message['member]['trophy'], $message['member']['usuk'], $message['member']['luvu'] as $spear) {
    $margin_left = $spear['left'];
    $margin_top = $spear['top'];
    $f = $spear['filename'];
    echo '<img src="', $f, '" style="position: absolute; z-index: ', $z_index, '; height: 150px; width: 125px; margin-left: ', $margin_left, '; margin-top: ', $margin_top, '>';
    $z_index++;
}

which is slightly simpler than extracting the values from an ID string

yeah if you can get it to be arrays that would make things simpler, either way i think you should change it to be at least one array, and then store the types of spears in that so adding new types of spears doesn't require you to make a whole new variable every time
