It was like a choice between getting rid of Modern Pentathalon, Taekwondo, and Wrestling and wrestling got axed.

That has to suck if you are a wrestler who trains your whole life to participate in the Olympics and now it is not an Olympic sport anymore.

Kind of sad in a way!

Why did they have to get rid of any of those?

Out of all those, wrestling probably deserved to be dropped.  At least it's 2020 so people have time to adjust.

Who am I kidding, this is ridiculous.  I just remembered all of these great Olympic events: speed walking, rhythmic gymnastics, synchronized swimming.  And wrestling would be replaced by SYMBOLIC kung fu?  Roller sports?  One of the ancient Olympic events gets replaced by this garbage?  fetch the Olympics

i think roller derby would be a fine replacement for wrestling

Even Taekwondo is modern bullpoo poo compared to Wrestling which was in the original Olympics much less modern sword form Wushu
