Because I like supporting the arrogant british developer who feels that it is our job to pay him to develop products that may or may not be good , rather than marketing established products like everyone else.

It's okay, it's priced the way it is to keep out people like EJ so the developers obviously made the right choice.

Kickstarter and early access is a disgrace.

Life is too short to waste on an undeveloped game.

For what it's worth I think this is fun for much longer than 2 hours already

How? Once you've built all the cellblocks and have a good time regime figured out there is absolutely nothing left to do except watch the game go.

EDIT: It's a great game but it is not worth 30 dollars right now. I've had it since way before it was even on steam and have followed it every step of the way. But I do not suggest you spend 30 dollars and expect something really playable. It's just sort of in "fetch around for a while " mode.

Maximizing efficiency, making better prisons, etc.  It's very playable, $30 is a big ask and yeah I don't think anyone should expect anything close to a finished product right now.

Once you maximize efficiency once, you do it automatically on every subsequent playthrough.
