I went to the Levis outlet today to pick up some jeans. I tried on 514s and they fit like poo poo! I was so shocked so I asked an employee what the deal was. He said that the Levis name is licensed out to department stores but the manufacturing isn't held to the same standard (this makes sense because a pair I bought at macys was made in a different country). I tried on some 511s and they fit magically.

So let it be known that when it comes to the official Levis jeans, 511s take a dump on 514s. Department store brands may vary.

I usually buy mine at the nearby outlet stoer so I ASSUME I am getting a legit levi's product.  that startling revelation might explain why the 501 STFs I got were so poo pooty though since I got them at dillards for megacheap.

Yeah Levis outlet is the actual stuff, it's also not really any cheaper so not much of an outlet. I am curious if all of the department stores use the same manufacturer or not. The pair I got at macys lasted a long time, but the ones at Dillards I tried recently seemed bad.

oh yeah forgot to mention I rarely wear jeans now. my everyday trousers are these pants from levis which are insanely comfortable and versatile as you can dress them up or down.
