I wrote about installing Ubuntu on Allwinner A10 devices here
http://www.flashmyandroid.com/forum/showthread.php?672-GUIDE-Building-Ubuntu-images-for-the-Novo-7-Elf

Appreciated.

EDIT: But I would like to be able to live boot as well. Know of any that do that?

You can also boot ubuntu from microsd:

I don't want to use Ubuntu. I also want a i386 processor.

Tell that to the people who made the OQO.

The OQO runs Windows XP. If a device can run Windows XP, I consider it to fully support x86, and thus all classic versions of Windows, and thus Linux, and DOS, and even Mac OS, and a dozen other operating systems I won't get into. It would also be nice to do this and that, etc. Why not?

I really don't care about either. It can take 10 hours to render a frame in 3D and the battery only last 1 hour, and I'm OK with it. It just has to work, and be a cheap non-consumer product.

my suggestion is to run a vnc server on your home pc and use chinavita to connect to it for your x86 needs

but NOOOOOOOOO YOU DON'T WANT TO CONNECT IT TO ANOTHER COMPUTER.
