Breaking News: Rich people have a terrible sense of entitlement

I just hate how many rich people seem to attribute poverty to some innate failing on the part of the poor rather than looking at the conditions that they were brought up with. Perhaps the poor are partially to blame, but how can people pretend that welfare programs provide adequate opportunity for the poor to elevate themselves.

I think a lot of the problem is that people view the poor as inherently lazy when that is obviously not always true. While some people worked for their fortune and didn't just inherit it, it also takes a good opportunity to be able to do so.  It's silly for people to think that the poor are choosing their situation willingly when so many of them work a ridiculous amount just to survive.

But of course this all stems from the fact that rich people can distance themselves from the harshness of reality so it's not like it will change.

Well, while there are certainly poor people who are lazy or who have made bad decisions, I think it is better to help ten people like that and one person who really needs it than to help no one at all. As a side note, I don't think the ratio is anywhere near that heavy on lazy people.

I don't understand how people can look down on and blame a person who works 3 or 4 minimum wage jobs to support a needy family. How are they supposed to find something better when all their time and money is dedicated to paying for their family? It happens though. Their justification, "Well why did they have kids when they knew they could not support them?" as if their youthful indiscretions warrant their and their kids' perennial poverty
